You will provide strategic direction across a varied portfolio, coordinating internal teams, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be confident managing competing priorities, navigating technical and regulatory requirements, and communicating clearly with audiences at all levels.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated programme plans, schedules, budgets and risk registers.
- Lead the delivery of water and wastewater capital projects, ensuring compliance with quality, environmental, health and safety standards.
- Manage programme governance, reporting, change control, procurement and commercial performance.
- Coordinate design development, technical assurance, construction activities, commissioning and operational handover.
- Build effective relationships with clients, regulators, local authorities, delivery partners and community representatives.
- Monitor progress and performance, identify emerging issues and implement timely corrective action.
- Provide clear updates, recommendations and performance reports to senior leadership and project boards.
- Support continuous improvement by introducing robust processes, lessons learned and best-practice approaches.
About you
You will have substantial experience managing complex water, wastewater, utilities or civil engineering programmes, ideally within a regulated environment. A strong understanding of asset delivery, project controls, commercial management and relevant legislation is essential. Experience working across design and construction interfaces, as well as managing multidisciplinary teams and supply-chain partners, is highly desirable.
You should hold a relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, project management, construction or a related discipline. Membership of a recognised professional body and formal programme or project management accreditation would be advantageous. Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical and communication skills are essential, together with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to safety, sustainability and service quality.
