Field Project Engineer
We are seeking a capable and motivated Field Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of engineering projects from planning through to completion. This role will involve working across site and office environments, coordinating technical activities, monitoring progress and ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
You will work closely with project managers, design teams, contractors, suppliers and clients to resolve technical issues and maintain effective communication throughout each project. The position may involve regular travel to project locations and requires a practical, organised approach to managing changing priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee engineering activities on site in line with approved designs, specifications and programmes.
- Review technical drawings, method statements, risk assessments and project documentation.
- Monitor construction or installation progress, quality, costs and resource requirements.
- Identify technical challenges and support the development of practical, compliant solutions.
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure work is delivered as planned.
- Prepare progress reports, inspection records, technical notes and handover documentation.
- Support commissioning, testing and completion activities, ensuring outstanding works are addressed.
- Promote high standards of health and safety, environmental responsibility and quality at all times.
About you
You will have experience in a site-based engineering, project engineering or technical delivery role, ideally within construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities or a related sector. A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience is required. Knowledge of project controls, construction processes and applicable technical standards would be advantageous.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to interpret technical information and make sound decisions under pressure. You should be confident working independently while contributing positively to a wider project team. Competence with standard Microsoft Office applications and project documentation systems is expected.
What is offered
This is an opportunity to contribute to varied engineering projects, develop your technical and project management experience, and work alongside experienced professionals. A competitive package, ongoing professional development and opportunities for progression are available. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites are required.
