You will work closely with clients, contractors, consultants and technical specialists to develop practical, cost-effective and sustainable engineering solutions. The role offers the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects while contributing to the improvement and resilience of essential water infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Develop concept, outline and detailed designs for water and wastewater infrastructure, treatment processes, pipelines, pumping stations and associated assets.
- Prepare calculations, technical reports, specifications, schedules, drawings and other design deliverables.
- Interpret project requirements, surveys, standards and regulatory guidance to inform robust design solutions.
- Undertake hydraulic, process and other engineering assessments where required.
- Coordinate design activities with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process and environmental disciplines.
- Support planning, cost estimation, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Attend site visits, design reviews and technical meetings, providing clear advice to stakeholders.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements and quality procedures.
- Assist with risk assessments, design checking, value engineering and the mentoring of less experienced engineers.
About you
You will be a qualified engineer with relevant experience in water and/or wastewater design, ideally gained within a consultancy, contractor, utility or infrastructure environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water, chemical or process engineering is desirable, and professional registration or progress towards it would be advantageous.
You should have strong technical, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Experience with industry-standard design software, hydraulic modelling tools and relevant UK water sector standards would be beneficial. A proactive approach, commercial awareness and commitment to delivering safe, sustainable solutions are essential.
This role provides excellent opportunities for professional development, varied project experience and progression within a supportive technical environment.
