Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of operational activities across assigned projects or work areas. The successful candidate will coordinate daily operations, supervise employees and subcontractors, and ensure that work is completed in accordance with approved plans, schedules, budgets, quality standards and applicable legislation. This role requires a visible and practical leader who can make sound decisions, communicate clearly and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include planning and allocating labour, equipment and materials; monitoring progress against programme milestones; reviewing drawings, specifications, method statements and risk assessments; and resolving site issues promptly. You will conduct regular inspections, promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements. The Superintendent will also coordinate toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and site briefings, maintain accurate records, contribute to progress reporting, and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce risk. Where required, you will support cost control, variations, procurement activities and the investigation of incidents, defects or non-conformances.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a supervisory or site management position, ideally within construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining, facilities or another operational environment. A relevant technical qualification, trade background or equivalent practical experience is desirable. You will need proven experience leading teams, coordinating multiple work fronts and delivering projects safely and to schedule. Strong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills are essential, together with the ability to interpret technical documentation and use standard reporting or project management systems. A proactive approach, sound judgement and commitment to quality are expected. Current safety training, industry licences or other role-specific certifications may be required, along with the ability to work flexible hours and travel to operational locations when necessary.
