Resident Engineer-Water
We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer – Water to oversee the delivery of water infrastructure projects from construction through commissioning. The successful candidate will act as the primary technical representative on site, ensuring that works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable standards. Projects may include water supply networks, treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs, pipelines, and associated civil and mechanical works.
Key responsibilities will include supervising contractors and consultants, reviewing method statements, drawings, inspection and test plans, material submissions, and construction programmes. You will monitor progress, quality, costs, and compliance; coordinate site inspections and testing; identify technical issues; and support timely resolution of variations, claims, delays, and non-conformances. The role will also involve maintaining accurate site records, preparing progress and technical reports, reviewing measurements and payment applications, monitoring health, safety, and environmental performance, and coordinating with stakeholders, authorities, utilities, and local communities. You will contribute to commissioning, handover, snagging, and the preparation of completion documentation.
Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, or a related discipline, along with professional registration or membership of a recognised engineering institution where applicable. Significant experience in the supervision or delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects is required, ideally gained in a resident engineer, construction management, or consultant representative capacity. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, quality assurance, site health and safety, and relevant water-sector standards is essential. You should be confident interpreting technical documentation, managing competing priorities, and communicating effectively with project teams and stakeholders. Experience with contract administration, reporting software, and common engineering tools will be advantageous. The position requires regular site presence and a proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.
