We are supporting a major high-speed rail programme in the MENA region and are looking for an experienced Project Manager / Project Director to lead delivery on the next phase of works.

This is a large-scale, site-based role with responsibility for managing the full scope of HSR delivery across multiple packages.

Role overviewOverall responsibility for the delivery of high-speed rail works, from construction through to completionManaging track and major civil works, including stations and associated infrastructureStrong exposure to OCS installation works and related rail systems is a significant advantageLeading a large multidisciplinary team (c.500-600 people) across site and project functionsActing as the senior interface between construction, engineering and wider project stakeholdersEnsuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to contractual requirementsRequirements
Must have prior experience working on a high-speed rail project
Strong background in track and civil works on major rail or infrastructure projectsExperience delivering large, complex international projectsProven ability to lead and manage very large site teamsContractor background essential - hands-on, delivery-focused, site-based profileExperience on high-speed rail or major rail programmes highly desirableComfortable operating in challenging environments and remote site locations

Track & OCS Expert - Civil Works (High‑Speed Rail)

Our client is a leading regional EPC and infrastructure delivery group with a strong track record on large‑scale, complex transport projects across the Middle East and Africa. The organisation is recognised for delivering major rail, metro, and civil infrastructure programmes, often acting as the main contractor on nationally significant projects.

The business combines deep in‑house engineering capability with strong on‑site delivery expertise and works closely with international consultants, suppliers, and technology partners on high‑speed and conventional rail schemes.

The Role

This role is focused on the delivery of track and overhead contact system works within a high‑speed rail programme, with particular emphasis on civil works interfaces. The position will play a key role in ensuring technical compliance, constructability, and integration between track, OCS, and associated civil structures.

The role is well‑suited to an experienced rail professional with strong on‑site and project delivery experience, particularly within contractor or EPC environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical oversight and engineering support for track and OCS works within the HSR civil works scopeEnsure alignment between track systems, OCS, earthworks, structures, and stations, managing key interfacesReview and support design packages, method statements, and construction sequencingOversee construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and project requirementsSupport coordination between civil works teams, systems contractors, and international stakeholdersParticipate in technical meetings, inspections, and site coordination activitiesAssist with issue resolution related to constructability, tolerances, access, and phasingSupport testing, installation readiness, and handover activities relevant to track and OCS packagesSkills & ExperienceStrong experience in track engineering and/or OCS systems on major rail projectsSolid understanding of civil works interfaces (earthworks, structures, slabs, viaducts, stations)Experience on high‑speed rail or large‑scale mainline rail projects is strongly preferredBackground working for main contractors, EPC contractors, or delivery partnersProven ability to operate in complex, multi‑contractor project environmentsComfortable working site‑based in challenging delivery programmesQualificationsDegree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related discipline10+ years in rail infrastructure deliveryInternational project experience, ideally within the Middle East or Africa, is advantageousProfile Sought

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on rail delivery professional with strong technical credibility in track and OCS, combined with practical experience managing civil works interfaces on site. This is not a purely design role, but one that requires close involvement in construction, coordination, and day‑to‑day delivery on a major HSR programme.

The role is site‑based in Egypt and requires immediate availability or short notice.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of all MEP and railway systems across the project.Manage system interfaces and coordinate between multiple contractors and stakeholders.Oversee systems including (but not limited to):Power supply and distribution (LV & HV)Ventilation and fire protection systemsRolling Stock interfacesSCADA systemsTrain operation and supervision systemsAutomatic Fare Collection (AFC)Ensure works are delivered in line with project specifications, safety standards, and programme requirements.Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities through to project completion.Act as the primary technical authority on site for MEP and rail systems matters.Candidate RequirementsDegree qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.Extensive experience in Metro, Transit, or Monorail projects, ideally on international assignments.Proven background in supervising installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP and railway systems.Strong experience coordinating multidisciplinary system interfaces.Previous experience in a similar role on large‑scale rail or transit projects is essential.Monorail experience is highly desirable.Ability to work in a fast‑paced, site‑based environment with tight delivery timelines.Package & BenefitsNet monthly salary: €7,500 - €7,750Accommodation providedAnnual return international flightIncome tax covered locallyThe position is urgent, and interviews are expected to take place promptly.
