You will provide technical assurance and independent checking where appropriate, support inspections and structural assessments, and guide the development of practical solutions for complex engineering challenges. You will also contribute to project planning, resource allocation, fee proposals, tender submissions and the management of budgets, programmes and client relationships. The role may involve mentoring engineers and technicians, supporting professional development and promoting consistent technical standards across project teams.

Applicants should hold a degree in civil or structural engineering and be professionally qualified, or working towards professional qualification, with substantial experience in bridge design and asset management. You will have a strong understanding of bridge engineering principles, inspection and assessment techniques, construction methods and relevant design standards. Experience using industry-standard structural analysis and design software, together with excellent written and verbal communication skills, is essential. We are seeking an experienced CAD Manager to lead the development and coordination of technical drawings and digital design information for bridge and related civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will manage CAD standards, workflows and deliverables across project teams, ensuring that drawings are accurate, consistent, compliant and issued on schedule. This role will involve working closely with bridge engineers, designers, project managers, contractors and external stakeholders throughout all stages of project delivery.

Key responsibilities will include managing and supporting CAD technicians, allocating workloads, reviewing drawing quality and maintaining effective document control. You will establish and monitor drawing standards, templates, layering conventions, naming protocols and plotting procedures, while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and project requirements. The role will also involve preparing and checking detailed bridge drawings, including general arrangements, reinforcement, steelwork, foundations, temporary works and construction details. You will coordinate models and drawings with wider design disciplines, identify clashes or inconsistencies, and contribute to improving digital design and information management processes.

Applicants should have substantial experience in a CAD management or senior design coordination role within bridge engineering, civil engineering or a closely related infrastructure environment. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with 3D modelling or BIM platforms are essential; experience with software such as Civil 3D, Revit, Tekla or equivalent tools would be advantageous. You will need a thorough understanding of engineering drawing principles, bridge construction methods and quality assurance procedures, together with excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical information accurately. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are required, as is the confidence to guide colleagues, manage competing deadlines and maintain high standards under pressure. A relevant technical qualification or professional certification would be beneficial.
