We are seeking a Project Lead Engineer – Primary to take technical ownership of the primary engineering scope across complex infrastructure and development projects. This role will lead the design, coordination and delivery of primary systems, ensuring that solutions are safe, compliant, practical and aligned with programme, budget and performance requirements. You will work closely with project managers, engineering disciplines, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to develop robust designs from concept through to construction, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities will include defining engineering scopes, reviewing technical requirements, producing and approving design documentation, and coordinating interfaces between civil, structural, electrical, mechanical and control systems. You will provide technical guidance to project teams, manage design risks, support procurement and tender activities, and assess technical submissions, calculations, drawings and method statements. The role will also involve attending design reviews, site meetings and inspections; resolving engineering queries; monitoring progress against agreed deliverables; and ensuring that changes are properly assessed, documented and controlled. We are seeking a Track Engineer (Design) to support the development and delivery of railway infrastructure projects in Dammam. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing safe, practical and compliant track design solutions across the project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept development through detailed design, construction support and handover. This role requires close collaboration with civil, geotechnical, signalling, systems, operations and construction teams to ensure that track interfaces are fully coordinated and project requirements are achieved.

Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing track alignment designs, horizontal and vertical geometry, turnout layouts, track slab or ballast arrangements, rail profiles, sleeper systems, drainage interfaces and associated permanent-way details. You will develop design calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings and schedules, ensuring that all deliverables meet relevant international standards, local regulations and project criteria. The role will also involve checking design submissions, identifying technical risks, responding to requests for information, supporting design reviews and resolving engineering issues during construction. You may be required to contribute to site inspections, assess proposed technical changes, review contractor submissions and provide engineering advice to ensure design intent is maintained.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, railway engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in railway track design or permanent-way engineering. Experience with mainline, metro, freight or high-speed rail projects will be considered advantageous. Strong knowledge of track geometry, alignment principles, construction methods, materials, interface management and applicable railway standards is essential. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail, Bentley software or comparable design tools is preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound technical judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while working effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required; knowledge of Arabic and experience working in the Gulf region would be an advantage.

The role will also involve reviewing contractor submissions, responding to technical queries, supporting site inspections, identifying design risks and resolving clashes or constructability issues. You will contribute to design coordination with civil, structural, geotechnical, signalling, systems, drainage and utilities disciplines, while ensuring that health, safety, quality and environmental considerations are embedded throughout the design process.

Applicants should hold a degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience in railway track design and a sound understanding of heavy rail, metro or tramway infrastructure. Knowledge of track geometry, permanent way components, construction methods, railway standards and multidisciplinary design interfaces is essential. Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRail, Bentley or equivalent platforms is required, together with the ability to interpret survey, geotechnical and operational data. Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills are expected, along with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Professional registration or membership of a recognised engineering institution is desirable. The position is based in Dammam and may require coordination with project teams and occasional travel to work sites.
