Construction Manager - Utility-Scale Solar PV


Location: Mauritius (Site-Based)
Contract: 1-Year Fixed-Term (Renewable into a 3-Year Contract)
Start Date: Immediate / As Agreed

We are recruiting an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of two utility-scale Solar PV projects (8 MWac and 10 MWac) in Mauritius.

The successful candidate will take full on-site responsibility for the construction phase, ensuring the projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the required quality standards, while coordinating closely with the client, consultants, contractors, and grid operator.

Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction LeadershipLead day-to-day site activities from mobilisation through commissioning and handover.Translate the project programme into weekly and daily construction plans.Coordinate all site disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical (LV/MV), SCADA, and commissioning preparation.Ensure effective site logistics, materials management, and workfront availability.Contractor ManagementManage the main contractor, subcontractors, and suppliers on site.Lead daily site briefings and weekly coordination meetings.Review method statements, inspection plans, and permits to work.Identify risks early and implement mitigation measures.Quality & HSEEnsure quality standards across all PV plant components including:Earthworks and foundationsMounting structures and module installationDC stringing and cablingInverters, transformers, and MV systemsEarthing, lightning protection, and fencingEnforce strict QHSE standards across the construction site.Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.Stakeholder CoordinationAct as the main site interface with the Client and Engineer/Consultant.Coordinate with the grid operator for inspections, site readiness, and energisation planning.Support commissioning readiness and punch-list closure.Required Experience7-10+ years construction experience, ideally within renewable energy or power infrastructure.Proven experience delivering utility-scale Solar PV projects (around 10MW or larger).Strong experience managing site teams, contractors, and subcontractors.Good understanding of PV plant construction and commissioning processes.Experience with planning and reporting tools such as MS Project or Primavera.Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.Safety certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, or equivalent.Fluency in English; French is an advantage.

Engineering Manager - (Utility-Scale Solar & BESS)

We are recruiting an experienced engineering professional to support the origination and development of large-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Italy. This is a senior technical role focused on engineering leadership, grid connection strategy, and early-stage project development - working closely with multidisciplinary teams to move projects from concept through delivery readiness.

This opportunity suits someone who combines strong electrical engineering expertise with commercial awareness, stakeholder engagement capability, and the ability to manage complex project portfolios.

The Role

You will lead engineering design and grid connection activities during project origination and development, ensuring technical solutions are robust, compliant, and aligned with project objectives. You will coordinate consultants, manage engineering deliverables, support budgeting and forecasting, and guide projects through grid approval and permitting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead engineering design and grid connection strategy for solar and BESS projects

Manage grid application processes and utility engagement

Support project costing, forecasting, and development planning

Coordinate HV studies, compliance reviews, and technical assessments

Oversee energy modelling and engineering documentation

Manage external engineering consultants and technical stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Extensive experience in utility-scale or commercial solar/BESS engineering

Strong knowledge of HV systems, grid compliance, and project delivery

Experience managing engineering teams or consultants

Familiarity with permitting and grid approval frameworks

Ability to prioritise across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Desirable experience includes engineering software proficiency (AutoCAD, PowerFactory, PVsyst), EPC or consultancy leadership exposure, and HV infrastructure project involvement.

Role Summary

This is a high-impact opportunity for a proactive HSSE professional to support the delivery of bioenergy and construction projects across West Africa. The role is focused on embedding Environmental, Social, Health & Safety Management Systems (ESMS) within complex construction environments - ensuring full compliance with national regulations, contractor requirements, and international frameworks such as the IFC Performance Standards.

The successful candidate will initially oversee HSSE operations on a flagship bioenergy construction project in Ghana, before expanding support across multiple active sites as the regional portfolio grows.

Key Responsibilities

Implement and enforce project-specific HSSE plans across bioenergy and construction sites in line with legal and corporate standards.

Conduct construction-focused risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and manage permit-to-work systems for high-risk activities.

Coordinate closely with EPC and construction contractors to maintain safe site execution and structured onboarding processes.

Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking within active construction environments.

Deliver HSSE inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency preparedness drills tailored to construction and bioenergy operations.

Monitor environmental compliance during construction activities, including air quality, dust, noise, waste management, and EIA/ESIA implementation.

Promote labour welfare, worker rights, and safe site practices across contractor workforces.

Interface with clients, regulators, contractors, and host communities on HSSE matters.

Prepare HSSE performance reports and support audits related to construction and project delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.

Professional HSSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) required.

Minimum 5 years' HSSE experience, ideally within bioenergy, infrastructure, industrial construction, or EPC project environments.

Skills & Experience

Strong knowledge of national HSE legislation and experience engaging regulatory bodies within construction settings.
