We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee the construction of underground wet utility infrastructure, including water, sanitary sewer and stormwater systems. The successful candidate will manage field operations from mobilisation through completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, permits and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, sound technical knowledge and the ability to coordinate multiple crews, subcontractors and site activities in a demanding construction environment.
Responsibilities will include planning daily and weekly work activities; supervising excavation, trenching, shoring, pipe installation, manhole construction, utility tie-ins, backfilling, compaction and testing; coordinating with project management, engineers, inspectors, surveyors and other trades; reviewing plans and identifying constructability issues; monitoring labour, equipment, materials and productivity; and maintaining accurate records, reports and daily site documentation. You will be responsible for enforcing site safety requirements, environmental controls and traffic-management measures, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and approved method statements. The Superintendent will also support inspections, pressure testing, CCTV surveys, commissioning, punch-list completion and final handover activities.
Candidates should have substantial experience supervising underground utility or civil infrastructure projects, with proven knowledge of water, sewer and storm drainage installation methods. Experience interpreting construction drawings, profiles, specifications and survey information is essential, along with the ability to identify and resolve field issues promptly. A recognised construction or civil engineering qualification is advantageous, as are relevant safety certifications and competency in site reporting or construction management systems. The ideal candidate will be organised, decisive and commercially aware, with excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate teams while maintaining high standards of workmanship. A valid driving licence and flexibility to work across active construction sites are required.

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent – Civil, Wet Utilities – Water & Sewer to oversee the delivery of major civil infrastructure works involving water supply, sewerage, drainage and associated wet utility networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating site activities, supervising subcontractors and ensuring that construction is completed safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project schedules.
Key responsibilities will include planning daily construction operations, allocating labour, plant and materials, monitoring productivity and resolving technical or logistical issues on site. You will review method statements, inspection and test plans, shop drawings and work programmes, while coordinating closely with project management, engineering, consultants, authorities and other contractors. The role will also involve supervising excavation, trenching, shoring, pipe installation, manholes, chambers, pressure testing, tie-ins, backfilling, reinstatement and related civil works. You will maintain accurate progress records, support quantity tracking and reporting, and ensure that all works comply with approved quality, environmental and health and safety procedures.
Applicants should hold a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering wet utilities and infrastructure projects. Strong practical knowledge of water and sewer networks, construction methods, surveying, testing and commissioning requirements is essential. Previous experience in a supervisory or superintendent role on large-scale civil projects is highly desirable. You should be confident interpreting technical documentation, managing diverse site teams and subcontractors, and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels. A proactive approach, sound decision-making skills and a strong commitment to safety, quality and timely delivery are required. Relevant professional certifications and experience working within regulated utility or infrastructure environments will be advantageous.
