Role overview
We are supporting a leading engineering consultancy on a major rail tunnel project in India and are seeking an experienced Tunnel Foreman with strong drill & blast expertise.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based role, supervising tunnel excavation activities and acting as a key interface between the Contractor, Client, and Engineering team.
Key responsibilities
Supervise and monitor tunnel excavation activities at the tunnel faceOversee drill & blast operations, excavation methods, and machinery usageMonitor work quality, programme progress, and safe construction practicesIdentify unsafe construction methods and escalate issues as requiredCoordinate closely with Site Engineers, Geologists, and discipline expertsSupport construction planning and reportingAssist with records, reporting, and billing support to the Project ManagerExperience & qualifications

Metro Rail Chief Contract Expert - India
The market leading infrastructure recruitment specialist is seeking a highly experienced Contract Expert with a strong background in metro rail infrastructure projects. This senior role is responsible for supporting all commercial, contractual, and cost management activities across complex rail construction packages, supporting delivery of major transit systems in a multi‑stakeholder environment.
Key Responsibilities
Rail Contract & Commercial LeadershipTake full accountability for contractual and commercial management across rail and urban transit project packages
Lead commercial coordination with engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders across rail systems
Identify, assess, and manage commercial and contractual risks specific to rail infrastructure works
Provide strategic advice on contract administration, claims, and commercial exposure throughout the project lifecycle
Payment, Measurement & Cost Management (Rail Works)
Measure and verify completed railway works for interim and final payments, including materials and equipment
Certify interim and final payments and advise on final accounts, retention release, and bonds
Deliver value engineering and cost optimisation solutions for rail and transit assets
Prepare cost forecasts, cost disbursement plans, and detailed financial assessments of variations and claims
Monitor rail project costs and proactively advise on significant cost or scope changes
Claims, Disputes & Rail Contract Strategy
Review, assess, and prepare comprehensive reports on contractor claims related to rail works
Support negotiation and settlement of claims, with a focus on dispute avoidance
Lead contract strategy workshops addressing employer requirements, pricing risk, delivery timelines, and interfaces typical of rail projects
Programme & Schedule Support
Support planning and scheduling specialists in assessing extension of time (EOT) and disruption claims arising from railway construction activities
Records & Commercial Documentation
Maintain accurate and auditable records of quantities, executed rail works, and contractual correspondence
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional CredentialsBachelor's degree in Engineering
Experience
Minimum 35 years' total professional experience
At least 15 years' experience on major infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on rail or urban rail
Over 15 years of experience as a Chief Contracts Expert in Railway or Metro projects.
2+ previous Metro Projects, Ideally in East or South East Asia.
Technical & Contractual Expertise
Proven track record administering contracts under FIDIC Conditions of Contract
Strong understanding of international donor‑funded rail projects, including procurement and contract management procedures
Extensive experience managing variations, claims, and dispute avoidance on complex rail construction programmes
Language:
Fluency in English writing and communication
Salary Package:
The salary for this position will be circa $10-12,000 TAX FREE per month with an additional $3,000 per month for allowances.

Key Responsibilities
