We are seeking an Equipment Operator – Light to support renewable energy construction and site operations at a large-scale solar facility in Texas. The successful candidate will safely operate light-duty construction and site-support equipment, including utility vehicles, telehandlers, skid steers, forklifts, light trucks, and other machinery appropriate to their training and authorization. Duties may include transporting materials and tools, loading and unloading deliveries, moving equipment around the site, assisting with access-road and laydown-area maintenance, supporting installation crews, managing debris and housekeeping, and completing routine pre-use inspections.
The operator will follow site-specific procedures, traffic plans, manufacturer instructions, and all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements. Responsibilities include reporting equipment defects, maintaining accurate daily logs, using required personal protective equipment, observing exclusion zones, communicating clearly with ground personnel and spotters, and stopping work when unsafe conditions arise. The role may also involve assisting with general labor tasks, material handling, weather-related preparation, and other operational activities as assigned. Consistent attendance, dependable teamwork, and a professional approach are essential in a changing outdoor work environment.
Applicants should have prior experience operating light construction, agricultural, industrial, or utility equipment, preferably on solar, civil, or infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include interpreting drawings, specifications, schedules, and civil installation plans; establishing daily work priorities; monitoring production and workmanship; and verifying that construction activities comply with approved methods and project requirements. You will coordinate with project management, engineering, survey, quality control, environmental, and safety teams to resolve field issues and maintain progress. The Superintendent will conduct pre-task planning, toolbox talks, and site inspections; enforce safe work practices; track quantities and productivity; document daily activities; support change management; and identify potential schedule, cost, or constructability risks. Effective communication with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and client representatives is essential.
Applicants should have significant experience supervising civil and underground construction, preferably on utility-scale solar, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure, or other large industrial projects. Strong knowledge of excavation, trench safety, backfilling, compaction, surveying, stormwater controls, utility installation, and construction sequencing is required.
