We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support the planning, design, and delivery of water resources and civil infrastructure projects. This role is suited to a technically capable professional who enjoys working across hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, drainage, flood studies, and water-related infrastructure. You will contribute to projects from concept through detailed design, approvals, construction support, and completion, while working collaboratively with engineers, project managers, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.

Key responsibilities will include preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and tender documentation; developing stormwater management and drainage solutions; undertaking hydrologic and hydraulic modelling; reviewing survey and site information; and assisting with flood assessments, watercourse studies, erosion and sediment control, and infrastructure upgrades. You will also support field investigations, construction inspections, progress meetings, and responses to technical queries. The successful candidate will help coordinate project deliverables, manage competing deadlines, maintain accurate records, and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement across project work.

Applicants should hold a degree in Civil Engineering and have relevant professional experience in water resources, stormwater, drainage, or related civil engineering disciplines. Registration as an Engineer-in-Training, eligibility for professional registration, or progress toward chartered or licensed status is desirable. Experience with design and modelling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12d, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TUFLOW, or equivalent tools will be highly regarded. Strong technical writing, analytical, communication, and organisational skills are essential, along with sound knowledge of applicable standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. A proactive approach, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team are important. A valid driver’s licence and the ability to undertake occasional site work may be required.

Responsibilities will include preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and tender documentation. You will assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, grading and drainage design, erosion and sediment control planning, utility coordination, and the review of survey, geotechnical, environmental, and other technical information. The successful candidate will coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, technicians, contractors, regulators, municipalities, and clients to resolve design issues and maintain project schedules. Duties may also include conducting site visits, supporting construction administration, reviewing shop drawings and contractor submissions, responding to requests for information, and monitoring work for compliance with approved designs and specifications.

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, along with eligibility for or current registration as an Engineer-in-Training, is required. Candidates should have relevant experience in water resources, drainage, municipal infrastructure, or land development, supported by a sound understanding of applicable engineering principles, standards, and regulatory requirements. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software, GIS, and Microsoft Office applications will be valued. Strong analytical, written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. A valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel to project sites may be required.
