Geological and Geotechnical Engineer - Hydropower - Romania
For major Pumped Storage Hydropower Project in Romania my client is seeking Geological/ Geotechnical Engineer.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Experience in hydropower and pump hydropower storage projects, including expertise in geological conditions and geotechnical design for the construction of dry/wet tunnels, powerhouse caverns, embankment dams, infrastructure buildings, roads, access routes, and transmission lines
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Plan, train, and supervise the design and site work and collect and analyze geological data from the construction site, which includes soil and rock samples-performing this analysis to provide insight into the most appropriate tools, methods, and materials for constructing all underground structures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- preparation of geotechnical investigation specifications, supervision of site investigation, site excavation (dams, tunnels, and foundations), and verification of rock & soil mass conditions
- Review construction design methodology, equipment plan, and underground front mapping and approve geotechnical aspects
- Perform geotechnical analysis and study to assess construction site condition
- Plan and conduct geotechnical exploration effectively
- Determine design procedures; interpret the application of design criteria
- Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare data reports for the Project Manager
- Develop proposals and determine cost and schedule for investigations
- Provide direction to the Head Contractor team in field inspection activities
- Perform basic office administration tasks when needed
- Assist the Lead in the design and evaluation of constructions
- Develop design drawings and specifications for underground works
- Review and approve geotechnical designs developed by design consultants
QUALIFICATION
- A minimum of a Master's degree in geotechnical engineering
- 15+ years of experience with geotechnical activities or related work
- Experience in a contracting organization or within a consultancy is equally desirable
- well-versed in international standards such as ASTM, BS EN, and ISRM for geotechnical applications
