Position: Senior Planning Manager - Ireland - Solar PV

Location: Ireland, Dublin

A leading renewable energy developer specialising in the development, construction, and operation of large-scale solar PV and battery storage projects. Role Overview:
An experienced Senior Planning Manager is required to join the development team in Ireland. This role will involve managing all planning-related aspects of projects across these regions, as well as other portfolios when required. The role will require working closely with various stakeholders, including local landowners and local planning authorities. Proactive decision-making and early-stage assessments of new opportunities identified by the development team are key aspects of this role. The Senior Planning Manager will also collaborate with the finance team to assess project viability, the procurement team to ensure projects are ready for construction, and the construction manager to facilitate a smooth transition into the construction phase.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the planning and permitting processes for utility-scale solar PV projects from inception through to project completion.
  • Contribute to project budgeting, risk management, health and safety, and quality assurance.
  • Evaluate land and planning aspects for potential project sites.
  • Ensure timely submission of planning applications, appeals, and RFIs.
  • Manage preliminary site layout designs for identified locations.
  • Utilise project management tools to track and manage opportunities.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to progress planning applications where applicable.
  • Provide technical insights into substation configurations and offer value-driven decisions to internal teams.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in preparing planning applications for renewable energy projects.
  • Strong business acumen, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate, problem-solve, and negotiate effectively.
  • Proven ability to work across complex organisations and dynamic, fast-changing environments.
  • A relevant undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • Experience with substation design and knowledge of Solar PV and construction terminology is advantageous.
  • Passion for progressing planning applications for solar farms and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Ireland.
  • Strong process orientation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project is essential.
