ISA PM (Lead Assessor) - UAE

EWI are supportig a leading international consultancy firm who are searching for a highly experienced Project Manager / Lead Assessor for Railway Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) to lead safety assessments for large-scale railway projects in the UAE. This critical role will ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements, focusing on the integrity and safety of railway systems and subsystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead independent safety assessment projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality standards. Manage project scope, resources, and progress while liaising with clients and regulatory bodies.

  • Safety Assessment & Compliance: Conduct safety assessments of railway systems in line with CENELEC standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129) and industry regulations. Review safety documents such as Risk Assessments, Safety Cases, and Hazard Analyses.

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise in safety assurance and lead the assessment team, ensuring alignment with safety objectives and industry best practices.

  • Communication & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive safety assessment reports and management summaries. Facilitate meetings with clients, stakeholders, and authorities to communicate findings and resolve issues.

  • Risk Management: Identify safety-related risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure regulatory compliance and system reliability.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with railway safety standards and ensure assessments meet national and international regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering).

  • Experience: 20+ years in railway safety roles, including 10+ years in Railway Safety Assessment (ISA) positions.

  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of CENELEC safety assessment standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129) and experience with risk analysis techniques (e.g., FMECA, HAZARD LOG, FTA).

  • Project Management: Proven track record in managing multidisciplinary teams and safety-related projects.

Key Skills:

  • Understanding of railway safety systems and their interfaces with other systems (CCS, RS, Infrastructure, and Energy).

  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

  • Experience working autonomously and collaboratively in team settings.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of rail systems, including Control and Command, Signalling, and Rolling Stock.
  • Familiarity with national safety authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Experience with software safety assessments and cybersecurity in rail applications is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to project locations and client meetings in the UAE and Oman.
