The successful candidate will contribute technical expertise to studies involving surface water, groundwater, drainage, flood risk, water quality, and sustainable water use. Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will help develop practical solutions that balance environmental protection, regulatory requirements, operational needs, and community interests.

Key responsibilities will include collecting, reviewing, and interpreting hydrological and hydraulic data; preparing technical reports, calculations, maps, and supporting documentation; and assisting with water resource assessments, permitting, impact evaluations, and flood risk studies. You may also support field investigations, site inspections, water sampling, monitoring programmes, and the analysis of records from gauges, wells, modelling systems, and other data sources. The role will involve using relevant analytical and geographic information systems, contributing to water or drainage models, reviewing engineering proposals, and communicating findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders. You will be expected to manage assigned tasks, maintain accurate records, identify risks or data limitations, and help ensure that deliverables are completed to a high professional standard.

Applicants should have a degree or equivalent qualification in water resources, hydrology, environmental science, civil or environmental engineering, or a related discipline. Experience in water resource management, hydrological assessment, flood risk, drainage, environmental permitting, or a comparable technical field is desirable. Familiarity with relevant legislation, guidance, industry standards, and environmental assessment principles will be advantageous. Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, together with proficiency in common technical, data analysis, mapping, or modelling software. You should be organised, collaborative, and able to work independently while managing competing priorities. A practical approach to problem-solving, attention to detail, and a commitment to environmental sustainability are also important.
