We are seeking an experienced Water Engineer to provide technical leadership and strategic direction across a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure and engineering projects. This senior role will involve guiding multidisciplinary teams, overseeing project delivery, and ensuring that solutions are safe, sustainable, commercially sound, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. The successful candidate will contribute to business growth, develop strong client relationships, and help shape long-term engineering strategies within the water sector.
Key responsibilities will include leading the planning, design, assessment, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects; reviewing technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings, and construction documentation; and providing expert advice on asset management, network performance, hydraulic modelling, treatment systems, flood risk, or related water engineering disciplines. You will manage project scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and risk, while ensuring quality assurance and effective governance throughout the project lifecycle. The role will also involve mentoring engineers and technical specialists, supporting recruitment and professional development, contributing to bids and tenders, and representing the business at client meetings, industry events, and stakeholder consultations.
Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline, together with substantial experience delivering complex water sector projects. Professional registration or chartered status is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of applicable legislation, design codes, health and safety requirements, and environmental considerations. You will need excellent communication, leadership, and commercial skills, as well as the ability to influence stakeholders and make sound decisions in a changing environment. Experience with relevant design, modelling, project management, and asset management software would be advantageous. This is an opportunity for a technically accomplished leader to make a significant impact on resilient, efficient, and sustainable water infrastructure.
