Wastewater Process Design Engineer

Our client, a highly respected engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Municipal Wastewater Process Design Engineer to join its growing Water Infrastructure team.
This position offers the opportunity to lead the design and delivery of complex municipal wastewater treatment projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams on critical infrastructure that supports environmental sustainability and community development.
The successful candidate will play a key role across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and process design through to construction support and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Lead municipal wastewater treatment process design and engineering activities.Develop process calculations, hydraulic analyses, technical reports, and design documentation.Plan and execute complex engineering assignments in accordance with applicable industry standards and regulations.Review and assess local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.Interpret and evaluate process data, engineering reports, drawings, and technical studies.Prepare cost estimates, engineering evaluations, and project documentation.Liaise with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers, regulators, and other project stakeholders.Support project proposals, fee estimates, and business development activities.Provide construction-phase engineering support and commissioning assistance.Troubleshoot wastewater treatment process challenges and identify practical solutions.Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes.Required Experience
Essential
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.Minimum 10 years' experience in municipal wastewater treatment engineering and process design.Strong technical knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and hydraulic design.Demonstrated experience delivering projects from concept through detailed design and implementation.Excellent communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within project teams.Preferred
Experience with Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) and Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) processes.Previous involvement in nutrient reduction or watershed-related programmes.Professional Engineer (PE) licence or ability to obtain professional registration.What's on Offer
