We are seeking a Traffic Engineer – Synchro Specialist to support the planning, analysis and optimisation of transport networks and traffic operations. The successful candidate will have strong experience using Synchro and related traffic modelling software to assess intersection performance, signal timing, network capacity and development impacts. This role is suited to an analytical professional who can translate technical findings into practical recommendations for clients, project teams and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing traffic impact assessments, intersection analyses, signal coordination studies and transport planning reports. You will develop, calibrate and maintain Synchro models, analyse existing and future traffic conditions, evaluate queue lengths, delays, levels of service and network performance, and recommend improvements to signal phasing, timing and intersection layout. You may also contribute to traffic counts, site investigations, concept designs, construction or operational reviews, and the preparation of technical drawings, schedules and presentations. Clear documentation of assumptions, methodologies and results will be essential.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, transport engineering, traffic engineering or a related discipline, with relevant professional experience in traffic analysis or transport planning. Advanced knowledge of Synchro is required, while experience with SimTraffic, SIDRA, VISSIM, AutoCAD, GIS or other modelling and design tools will be advantageous. You should have a sound understanding of traffic engineering principles, signalised intersection design, road safety, local standards and applicable guidelines. Strong numerical, report-writing and communication skills are important, along with the ability to manage priorities, work independently and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. A professional engineering qualification or progress toward chartered status will be viewed favourably.
