We are seeking an experienced Senior Water Utility Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will oversee programmes involving treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs, network upgrades and associated civil, mechanical, electrical and control systems. You will be responsible for establishing project objectives, scope, budgets, schedules and delivery strategies while ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities will include managing multidisciplinary design and construction teams, consultants, contractors and supply-chain partners; monitoring progress, costs, risks, quality and performance; and providing clear reports to senior stakeholders. You will coordinate design reviews, procurement, contract administration, construction activities, commissioning and handover, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. The role will also involve managing change control, resolving technical and commercial issues, maintaining accurate project documentation and ensuring compliance with health and safety, environmental and water industry requirements. You will contribute to programme planning, continuous improvement and the development of project delivery standards.
Applicants should have substantial experience managing major water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure projects, ideally from feasibility and design through to construction and operational handover. A recognised project management qualification, such as APM, PRINCE2 or equivalent, would be advantageous, alongside a relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, construction, water management or a related discipline. Strong knowledge of contract management, risk control, cost forecasting and regulatory compliance is essential. You should be an effective leader and communicator, confident engaging with technical specialists, contractors, regulators and community stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound commercial judgement, structured problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex delivery environment.
