We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of retail construction and refurbishment projects from initial planning through to completion. This is a hands-on role for an organised and commercially minded professional who can manage multiple projects, stakeholders and priorities across a varied property portfolio.
You will take ownership of project programmes, budgets, procurement and construction delivery, ensuring that all works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. Working closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, landlords and local authorities, you will provide clear direction and maintain strong communication throughout each project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities Manage retail construction, fit-out, refurbishment and improvement projects from concept and feasibility through to handover. Develop and control project budgets, schedules, risk registers and reporting processes. Coordinate design development, planning requirements, statutory approvals and technical reviews. Lead the appointment and management of external consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers. Monitor progress on site, resolving issues and driving delivery against agreed milestones. Ensure compliance with health and safety, building regulations, quality standards and relevant legislation. Prepare regular updates for senior stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks, costs and required decisions. Support the development of standard processes, lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives. About youYou will have substantial project management experience within retail construction, commercial fit-out, property development or a closely related environment. A strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, procurement and project controls is essential, together with experience delivering projects in live trading or customer-facing environments.
Highly organised and commercially aware, you will be confident managing competing deadlines and making informed decisions under pressure. You will communicate effectively with people at all levels, build productive relationships and demonstrate a practical, solutions-focused approach. A relevant construction, surveying, engineering or project management qualification is desirable, along with membership of an appropriate professional body.
