Senior Investment Associate - Power & Infrastructure (Africa)Location: Nairobi, Kenya (Regional Hub)Reporting to: Head of Investments

We are supporting a leading African power and infrastructure investor/developer in the appointment of a Senior Investment Associate to join their expanding Nairobi-based investment team. This role offers the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of transactions across the continent and work closely with global investors, lenders, DFIs, governments, and development partners.

The Opportunity

As Senior Investment Associate, you will lead investment analysis, structuring, and execution across a pipeline of power and infrastructure transactions. You will drive deals from early-stage assessment through to financial close, while supporting ongoing portfolio management and contributing to internal process enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Sourcing & Assessment

Screen and assess new project and platform opportunities across African markets.

Support early-stage investment case development and market evaluation.

Financial Modelling & Analysis

Build and maintain sophisticated project finance and corporate models.

Run scenarios, sensitivities, and valuations to guide investment decisions.

Transaction Structuring & Execution

Lead or co-lead equity and debt workstreams.

Support term sheet negotiations, coordinate due diligence, and contribute to documentation leading up to financial close.

Stakeholder Engagement

Manage relationships with investors, lenders, DFIs, regulators, governments, and donors.

Prepare high-quality IC papers, fundraising materials, and investor presentations.

Portfolio Management

Monitor asset performance against financial models and covenants.

Support refinancings, restructurings, and follow-on capital raises.

Team & Process Contribution

Mentor junior team members in modelling and deal execution.

Improve investment tools, processes, and operational best practices.

Candidate Profile

Core Experience Requirements

5-7 years of relevant experience in project finance, investment banking, infrastructure lending, private equity, transaction advisory, or a developer environment.

Strong financial modelling capability - advanced equity and debt modelling is essential.

Experience working within an equity and/or debt fund environment is highly desirable.

Experience in renewable energy is preferred but not mandatory.

Proven track record of taking deals through to financial close is a must-have.

Strong understanding of project finance, PPP structures, concession agreements, and infrastructure financing instruments.

Familiarity with African energy and infrastructure markets is an advantage.

Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a dynamic, fast-moving environment

Excellent relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
