We are seeking a Senior Engineer specialising in water conveyance to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects across the water and environmental sectors. This role will involve leading the planning, design and technical delivery of water, wastewater and drainage conveyance schemes, including pipelines, pumping stations, storage systems and associated infrastructure. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, construction support and commissioning.
You will provide technical leadership within multidisciplinary project teams, coordinate engineers and technicians, and contribute to the development of robust, sustainable and cost-effective solutions. Key responsibilities will include preparing technical reports, specifications, calculations and drawings; reviewing designs and deliverables; managing technical risks and interfaces; supporting cost and programme control; and engaging with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders. You will also contribute to bids, scope definition, fee proposals and the continuous improvement of design standards and processes. The role may include mentoring less experienced colleagues and representing the technical team at meetings, workshops and site visits.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering or a related discipline, together with substantial experience in the design and delivery of conveyance infrastructure. Professional registration, or a clear commitment to achieving it, is desirable. You should have practical knowledge of relevant industry standards, health and safety requirements, environmental considerations and design software used for hydraulic and civil engineering projects. Experience with hydraulic modelling, pipeline design, pump systems, drainage networks or flood risk management would be advantageous. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
