Senior Dam Design Engineer - Water Storage & Security

About the Role

We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Dam Design Engineer to join our established engineering team in Muscat. In this role, you will champion the technical design and delivery of critical water storage and groundwater recharge dam projects across the Sultanate.

From navigating the complex rock formations of Oman's mountainous terrain to designing resilient systems that secure vital water resources, your expertise will directly impact the nation's long-term water sustainability strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Design & Architecture: Oversee the comprehensive feasibility, conceptual, and detailed design phases for water storage, embankment, and earth/rockfill dams.Hydraulic & Geotechnical Coordination: Direct advanced hydrological modeling, spillway design, and reservoir routing, ensuring seamless integration with geotechnical and structural design teams.Geological Optimization: Evaluate site-specific rock mechanics, grouting requirements, and foundation treatments tailored to Muscat and regional terrain challenges.Regulatory & Quality Compliance: Ensure all design components strictly align with regional ministry guidelines (e.g., MAFWWR) and international engineering standards.Mentorship & Team Leadership: Guide and mentor intermediate and junior design engineers, reviewing technical drawings, calculations, and 3D surface models.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a strictly related discipline. Chartership (CEng, PE, or equivalent) is highly advantageous.Experience: Minimum of 10 to 12+ years of progressive experience in civil infrastructure, with at least 5 years specifically dedicated to the design of water storage or groundwater recharge dams.Software Proficiency: Advanced, hands-on experience with industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W), HEC-RAS, or equivalent design and modeling software.Geographical Familiarity: Prior experience working on arid-region water resource projects or complex mountainous terrains is highly valued.
