Key responsibilities include measuring roofs and related structures, identifying existing damage or installation requirements, interpreting drawings and technical documents, and preparing itemised estimates and tenders. You will obtain and compare supplier quotations, maintain up-to-date pricing information, calculate margins, and identify potential risks or variations that could affect project costs. The role will also involve responding to customer enquiries, clarifying scope of work, supporting contract negotiations, and updating estimates when specifications or site conditions change.

Applicants should have previous experience in roofing estimation, construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a closely related role, with a sound understanding of roofing systems, materials, installation methods, and building practices. Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills are essential, along with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple quotations to tight deadlines. Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications is expected. You should be confident communicating with customers and contractors, capable of working independently, and committed to producing accurate, commercially sound estimates. A valid driving licence may be required for site visits, and knowledge of relevant health, safety, and building regulations would be advantageous.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive quotations for a range of commercial roofing projects. The successful candidate will assess client requirements, review drawings and specifications, visit sites to evaluate existing conditions, and develop detailed estimates covering labour, materials, plant, access equipment, subcontractors and associated costs. You will work closely with clients, suppliers, project managers and operational teams to ensure proposals are commercially sound, technically accurate and submitted within agreed deadlines.

Key responsibilities will include interpreting architectural and technical drawings, conducting take-offs and measurements, obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, identifying project risks and clarifying scope requirements. You will prepare tenders, bills of quantities, pricing schedules and supporting documentation, while maintaining clear records of assumptions, exclusions and commercial considerations. The role will also involve responding to tender queries, supporting negotiations, attending pre-start or client meetings, and handing over successful projects to the delivery team. A strong focus on accuracy, cost control, compliance and customer service will be essential.

Applicants should have proven estimating experience within commercial roofing, construction or a closely related building sector, with a sound understanding of roofing systems, materials, installation methods and relevant health and safety requirements. The ability to read technical drawings, complete detailed measurements and use estimating or spreadsheet software confidently is required. Strong numerical, organisational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively. A commercially aware, methodical approach and the confidence to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team will be highly valued. A relevant construction qualification or practical roofing background would be advantageous, as would experience pricing refurbishment, maintenance and new-build projects.
