The Opportunity
EWI is supporting an international engineering consultancy with the recruitment of two experienced Mechanical Experts for a major Metro Rail project in the Philippines.
The successful candidates will work as part of the client-side consultancy team, supporting the delivery of mechanical, electrical and plumbing works across railway stations, depots and associated facilities. The role will involve detailed design review, construction supervision, technical coordination, quality verification and resolution of complex design and site issues.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile urban rail programme and work alongside an experienced international team representing the interests of the project's end client.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Civil, Station and MEP Team Leader with the implementation of building MEP works.Review detailed MEP designs for elevated and underground railway stations, depots and other project facilities.Recommend design modifications and optimisation measures where required.Provide client-side construction supervision, technical coordination and quality verification.Review technical proposals, contractor change proposals, RFIs, design documents and construction submittals.Participate in site inspections during construction and throughout the Defects Notification Period.Support the resolution of defects, outstanding works and required corrective actions.Advise the client regarding design changes, additional works, specification amendments and interface matters.Assess technical and contractual issues with reference to the Contract Conditions, Specifications, Drawings, BOQ and associated contract documents.Contribute to project implementation and response strategies based on the contractual allocation of responsibilities.
Requirements
Strong professional experience in building mechanical and MEP systems.Previous experience on railway, metro, station, depot or major infrastructure projects.Experience reviewing MEP designs and contractor technical submissions.Client-side consultancy or engineering supervision experience.Knowledge of construction quality assurance, testing, commissioning and defect resolution.The ability to coordinate effectively with civil, architectural, electrical and specialist systems teams.Strong technical reporting and contract-document review capabilities.
Practical knowledge of fire and life safety, evacuation planning, smoke control, smoke extraction and fire-protection systems would be highly advantageous. Detailed knowledge of relevant NFPA standards is strongly preferred.

Rail Mechanical Expert (Stations / Depot) - Philippines
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Expert to join an international consultancy team supporting the delivery of railway stations and depot facilities on a major metro project.
Working under the Mechanical Team Leader, you will be responsible for the coordination of mechanical systems across stations and/or depot facilities, ensuring alignment between design, construction, and project requirements.
You will play a key role in managing interfaces between the Contractor and the Client, supporting smooth delivery and effective project communication.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate mechanical systems for railway stations and/or depot facilities (HVAC, fire protection, water systems, etc.)Work under the guidance of the Mechanical Team Leader to support overall project deliveryLead coordination activities between the Contractor, Client, and multidisciplinary teamsMonitor progress and ensure mechanical works align with design, specifications, and programmeIdentify and resolve interface issues across civil, architectural, and MEP disciplinesSupport preparation and review of project correspondence, including formal lettersAssist in ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and technical standardsProvide technical input during inspections, testing, and commissioning stages
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineProven experience in railway or metro mechanical systems (stations and/or depot facilities)Strong experience in coordination roles within major infrastructure or rail projectsAbility to lead Contractor and Client interface and coordination activitiesGood understanding of contractual frameworks and requirements (FIDIC experience preferred)Experience supporting project correspondence, including drafting and reviewing formal lettersStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsInternational project experience is highly desirable
Salary Package
The salary on offer is expected to be $7,000 to $10,000 tax free per month with additional allowances for accommodation, transport etc.
