We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of major roads and bridges projects from initial planning through to completion. The role will involve managing programmes, budgets, resources, contractors, consultants and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards. You will oversee the full project lifecycle, including feasibility, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities will include developing and maintaining project plans, cost forecasts, risk registers and reporting systems; coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams; monitoring progress against milestones and performance targets; and implementing effective controls for cost, quality, programme and change management. You will lead project meetings, review contractor performance, resolve technical and commercial issues, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, health and safety requirements, environmental standards and engineering specifications. The role will also require close collaboration with public authorities, utility providers, landowners, consultants and community representatives, with a strong focus on communication and stakeholder engagement.

Applicants should have substantial experience managing complex civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally involving highways, bridges, structures or associated transport works. A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline is required, along with strong knowledge of project controls, contract administration, construction methods, risk management and health and safety practices. Experience working under recognised forms of contract, such as NEC or equivalent, would be advantageous. You will need excellent leadership, negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a demanding project environment. Professional membership or chartered status is desirable.
