We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Front End Studies to lead the development of complex projects from initial concept through to investment decision and delivery readiness. The role will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring that studies are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high technical and commercial standard. You will establish clear project objectives, scope, schedules, budgets, governance arrangements, and decision-making processes from the outset.
Key responsibilities will include managing concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and front-end engineering studies; coordinating engineering, technical, environmental, commercial, and stakeholder inputs; and ensuring that project risks, assumptions, interfaces, and dependencies are identified and actively managed. You will oversee the preparation and review of study deliverables, cost estimates, financial evaluations, execution strategies, procurement approaches, schedules, and risk registers. The role will also involve engaging with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating workshops and decision forums, managing consultants and contractors, monitoring performance against approved plans, and providing clear, timely reporting to senior leadership. A strong focus on safety, sustainability, quality, and regulatory compliance will be expected throughout the project lifecycle.
Applicants should have substantial experience managing multidisciplinary studies or early-phase capital projects, ideally within a complex industrial, infrastructure, energy, resources, or engineering environment. You will need a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience, together with strong knowledge of project development methodologies, estimating, scheduling, risk management, and technical assurance. Excellent communication, negotiation, commercial, and leadership skills are essential, as is the ability to translate complex information into practical recommendations. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware, and confident working with ambiguity while maintaining momentum and accountability. Experience with project controls systems, stage-gate governance, and collaboration across geographically dispersed teams will be highly regarded.
