We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Austin, Texas. This role is responsible for managing projects from initial planning and design through construction, closeout, and client handover. The successful candidate will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure that projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.
Key responsibilities include defining project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements; managing contracts, change orders, risks, and project documentation; and coordinating with engineers, contractors, consultants, public agencies, utility providers, and community stakeholders. You will review technical deliverables, monitor construction progress, resolve issues, lead project meetings, and provide clear status updates to internal and external stakeholders. The role also includes supporting proposals and business development activities, identifying opportunities for process improvement, and ensuring compliance with health and safety, quality assurance, environmental, and permitting requirements.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, along with substantial experience managing municipal water, wastewater, utility, or other public infrastructure projects. Experience with treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, collection and distribution systems, or rehabilitation programs is highly valued. Strong knowledge of project controls, procurement, construction administration, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements is expected. Professional Engineer, Project Management Professional, or similar certification is preferred. Excellent communication, negotiation, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment. Regular travel to project sites and meetings throughout the Austin area may be required.
