We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the planning, design, delivery and commissioning of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role will contribute to projects from early concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction and handover, ensuring that technical, commercial, programme and quality requirements are met. You will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal teams to deliver safe, efficient and compliant infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities; reviewing designs, specifications, calculations and technical submissions; preparing scopes of work, cost estimates, programmes and procurement documentation; and monitoring construction progress against agreed milestones. You will provide technical support during installation, testing and commissioning, identify and resolve design or delivery issues, and assist with the management of risks, variations, change control and project reporting. The role will also involve attending site meetings, carrying out inspections, supporting health and safety initiatives, and ensuring that works comply with relevant legislation, environmental standards, industry guidance and project specifications.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental or chemical engineering, together with professional experience delivering water or wastewater infrastructure projects. Experience with treatment processes, pumping stations, pipelines, utility infrastructure or operational facilities would be advantageous. You will need strong understanding of engineering principles, construction practices, design review and project controls, as well as excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware and capable of managing competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Proficiency with relevant design, document-control and project-management software is desirable. A willingness to travel to project and construction sites is required.
