This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced professional who can combine technical expertise, commercial awareness and a strong understanding of client needs. You will manage projects from initial strategy and proposal development through design, delivery and closeout, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, schedule and financial performance.

Responsibilities will include developing project plans, budgets and resourcing strategies; directing multidisciplinary teams; overseeing design and technical deliverables; managing risks, changes, contracts and project controls; and maintaining clear communication with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders. You will contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, supporting presentations and cultivating long-term client relationships. As a practice builder, you will help define growth strategies, mentor project managers and technical staff, promote consistent delivery standards, and support the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for water, wastewater and related utility infrastructure.

The successful candidate will have a degree in civil, environmental or water resources engineering, or a related discipline, along with significant experience managing water and wastewater projects. Professional registration or chartership is preferred, as is demonstrated success delivering major treatment, collection, conveyance or utility infrastructure programmes. You should bring strong knowledge of relevant regulations, design standards, construction practices and project delivery methods, together with proven leadership, financial management, negotiation and communication skills. A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to build trusted relationships at all levels are essential. Experience growing a technical practice, developing new business and coaching teams will be highly valued. The role may require occasional travel to client, project and construction sites.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, along with extensive experience in project management within the water and wastewater sector. A PMP certification is highly desirable. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are critical for success in this role, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
