We are seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer to support the delivery of complex engineering, construction and maintenance projects across industrial facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality piping design deliverables from concept through to detailed design, ensuring that all work meets applicable standards, specifications, safety requirements and project schedules. This role will involve working closely with engineers, project managers, clients, fabricators and site teams to develop practical, safe and cost-effective solutions.
Key responsibilities will include developing and reviewing piping layouts, general arrangements, plot plans, equipment arrangements, piping isometrics, spool drawings and support details. You will interpret process and mechanical information, coordinate interfaces with structural, electrical, instrumentation and civil disciplines, and identify potential clashes or constructability issues. The role will also involve checking design calculations and drawings, preparing material take-offs, contributing to design reviews, responding to technical queries and supporting field activities during construction, commissioning or modification works. You may also be required to provide guidance to junior designers and contribute to improving design standards, procedures and workflows.
Applicants should have substantial experience in piping design within an engineering, manufacturing, energy, chemical, utilities or similarly complex industrial environment. Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, components, support arrangements, fabrication methods and relevant codes and standards is essential. Proficiency with industry-standard CAD and 3D plant design systems is required, together with the ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment data sheets and technical specifications. A relevant technical qualification or equivalent practical experience is preferred. You will need excellent attention to detail, sound problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines. Effective communication, collaborative working and a strong commitment to health, safety, quality and continuous improvement are also essential.
