We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer specialising in Instrumentation and Control (I&C) to support the development, integration and lifecycle management of safety-critical and industrial automation systems. In this role, you will design reliable software solutions for control, monitoring and protection applications, working across the full engineering lifecycle from requirements analysis and architecture through implementation, verification, commissioning and maintenance.
Your responsibilities will include translating system and customer requirements into robust software designs, developing and reviewing control logic, embedded software or automation applications, and preparing clear technical documentation. You will contribute to software and system architectures, interface definitions, configuration management and change control. You will also plan and perform testing activities, including unit, integration, system and validation testing, while ensuring compliance with applicable quality, safety, cybersecurity and regulatory standards. Close collaboration with electrical, systems, hardware, project management and commissioning teams will be essential, as will communication with internal and external stakeholders. You may also provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and support the resolution of complex issues during installation and operation.
You have a degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, automation technology or a comparable discipline, together with substantial professional experience in industrial control, embedded systems or I&C engineering. Strong knowledge of software development processes, object-oriented programming and version-control systems is expected. Experience with PLC, SCADA, DCS or safety-related systems, as well as relevant development tools and testing frameworks, would be highly advantageous. Familiarity with standards for functional safety, industrial cybersecurity and regulated engineering environments is desirable. You work analytically and independently, take ownership of your responsibilities and communicate effectively in multidisciplinary teams. Professional English is required; knowledge of an additional European language is beneficial. Occasional travel to project, customer or commissioning sites may be part of the role.
