We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the safe, efficient and successful commissioning of complex projects from late construction through to operational handover. Working closely with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and operational stakeholders, you will develop and manage commissioning strategies that meet programme, quality, safety and performance requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical understanding, excellent organisation and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams in a demanding project environment.
Your responsibilities will include preparing commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, inspection and test plans, and completion documentation. You will coordinate system walkdowns, testing, energisation, functional checks, performance testing and final handover, ensuring that all activities are completed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, legislation and industry standards. You will monitor progress, identify risks and constraints, manage interfaces between disciplines, and lead the resolution of technical issues, defects and commissioning queries. The role will also involve chairing coordination meetings, providing progress reports, reviewing contractor deliverables and ensuring that commissioning records, operating procedures and training requirements are complete and accurate.
Applicants should have significant experience managing commissioning activities within a construction, engineering, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure or similarly complex environment. A relevant technical or engineering qualification is desirable, together with a proven record of delivering projects safely and to agreed deadlines. You will need strong knowledge of commissioning principles, quality assurance, health and safety requirements, construction completion processes and handover systems. Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the confidence to influence contractors and stakeholders at all levels. The ability to interpret technical documentation, manage competing priorities and work collaboratively under pressure will be critical to success.
