We are seeking an experienced Water and Sewer Foreman to lead and coordinate field crews delivering water, wastewater and sewer infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for supervising daily site operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical and quality standards. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, utility providers and the wider construction team to keep projects on schedule and minimise disruption to the public.
Key responsibilities include planning daily activities, allocating labour and equipment, interpreting drawings and specifications, and overseeing the installation, repair and maintenance of water mains, sewer lines, drainage systems, manholes, service connections and associated infrastructure. You will monitor productivity, inspect completed work, identify and resolve site issues, and maintain accurate records of progress, materials, testing and inspections. The role also involves coordinating traffic management, liaising with residents and stakeholders where required, and ensuring environmental controls are maintained throughout each project.
The successful candidate will have proven supervisory experience in water, sewer, civil construction or utilities, with a sound understanding of construction methods, excavation practices, confined-space requirements and underground services. Relevant trade, technical or civil construction qualifications are desirable, along with experience reading plans and using standard site documentation. You must demonstrate strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate crews and manage changing priorities. A commitment to workplace health and safety is essential, including experience conducting toolbox talks, risk assessments and site inspections. A current driver’s licence and relevant safety certifications will be required, while additional tickets for plant operation, confined spaces or traffic control are advantageous. This is an opportunity to take a hands-on leadership role in delivering essential infrastructure that supports local communities.
