We are seeking an experienced Pumpstation Superintendent to oversee the safe, reliable and efficient operation of pumpstation facilities and associated equipment. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership for operational teams, coordinate maintenance activities and ensure that all systems perform in accordance with required service, safety and environmental standards. This role involves working across operational sites and responding effectively to changing priorities, emergencies and service demands.
Key responsibilities include supervising pumpstation operators, technicians and contractors; planning and coordinating routine inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs; monitoring pumps, motors, control systems, pipelines, valves and related infrastructure; and reviewing operational data to identify faults, performance issues and opportunities for improvement. You will maintain accurate records, prepare operational and maintenance reports, manage work schedules and support budget and resource planning. The Superintendent will also coordinate shutdowns, emergency responses and equipment isolation procedures, while ensuring that all work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to services.
Applicants should have substantial experience in pumpstation, water, wastewater, utilities or industrial operations, including proven supervisory or team leadership experience. A relevant technical qualification in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering or a related discipline is desirable, together with a strong understanding of pumps, hydraulic systems, electrical controls, instrumentation and planned maintenance practices. You must be confident interpreting technical documentation, diagnosing operational problems and making sound decisions under pressure. Strong communication, organisational and contractor-management skills are essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to health and safety, environmental compliance, continuous improvement and high standards of operational reliability. A valid driver’s licence and the ability to work flexible hours, including participation in an on-call or emergency roster, may be required.
