We are seeking an experienced Civil Sitework Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive tenders for a range of civil engineering, groundworks and external works projects. The successful candidate will assess drawings, specifications, schedules and site information to develop detailed cost estimates, ensuring all pricing is commercially sound and reflects the required scope of works. Projects may include earthworks, drainage, roads, pavements, kerbing, utilities, concrete works and associated infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include reviewing tender documentation, identifying risks and omissions, measuring quantities, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, and compiling comprehensive cost plans and bids. You will liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams to clarify requirements and ensure submissions are complete and delivered within agreed deadlines. The role will also involve maintaining estimating records, monitoring market rates, supporting value engineering exercises and contributing to post-tender reviews. Where required, you may attend site visits and pre-start meetings to improve the accuracy of estimates and support a smooth handover to the delivery team.

Applicants should have proven experience in civil engineering or groundworks estimating, ideally with a sound understanding of sitework methods, construction materials, plant, labour requirements and project programming. Strong numerical and analytical skills are essential, together with the ability to interpret technical drawings and confidently use estimating software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent attention to detail, commercial awareness and organisational skills are required, as is the ability to manage multiple tenders under pressure. A proactive approach, clear communication style and the confidence to work independently and collaboratively will be highly valued. Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction would be advantageous, although practical estimating experience will also be considered.
