We are seeking an experienced Director, Construction to lead the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. This senior leadership role will oversee project strategy, planning, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, ensuring that all work is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will provide clear direction across multiple project teams and establish a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing construction strategies; managing programme, cost, risk and resource requirements; and ensuring effective coordination between internal teams, consultants, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders. You will review project plans and contracts, monitor progress against approved milestones, resolve complex construction and commercial issues, and ensure appropriate reporting to senior leadership. The role will also involve overseeing procurement and contractor performance, maintaining robust change-control processes, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, building regulations, health and safety requirements and environmental standards. You will identify opportunities to improve processes, adopt efficient construction methods and promote best practice across the project portfolio.
Applicants should have substantial experience in a senior construction leadership role, with a strong record of delivering complex projects in a regulated or technically demanding environment. A degree or equivalent qualification in construction, engineering, project management or a related discipline is preferred, together with relevant professional accreditation. You will need strong commercial and contractual knowledge, excellent understanding of construction methodologies, and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple programmes. Exceptional communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills are essential, as is the confidence to make sound decisions and provide constructive challenge. The ideal candidate will be commercially aware, highly organised, solutions focused and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and integrity.
