Applicants should hold a degree in biology, ecology, life sciences, or a related discipline, together with substantial professional experience in a relevant scientific environment. Strong knowledge of biological methods, experimental design, data analysis, and scientific literature is essential. Experience with relevant software, laboratory or field techniques, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance procedures would be advantageous. You will be an organised and proactive scientist with excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills. We are seeking an Archeologist/Cultural Resources Specialist to support the identification, evaluation, documentation, and protection of cultural resources during planning, permitting, and field-based projects. The successful candidate will contribute to archaeological investigations across a range of environments, help ensure compliance with applicable cultural resource and historic preservation regulations, and provide clear, well-supported recommendations to project teams, clients, agencies, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include conducting background research and records reviews; preparing research designs, technical memoranda, cultural resources assessments, and survey reports; and participating in archaeological surveys, site testing, monitoring, excavation, and data recovery activities. You will document sites and artifacts in accordance with professional standards, maintain accurate field records, photograph and map findings, assist with artifact processing and curation, and evaluate resources for eligibility and potential project effects. The role may also involve coordinating with tribal representatives, regulatory agencies, landowners, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams. You will be expected to identify risks, recommend avoidance or mitigation measures, support permitting activities, and communicate technical information effectively to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.

Applicants should have a degree in archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, or a closely related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in cultural resources management. Experience applying federal, state, and local preservation laws and regulations, including Section 106 and the National Environmental Policy Act where applicable, is desirable. Familiarity with archaeological methods, archival research, artifact analysis, technical report preparation, and geographic information systems is strongly preferred. The position requires strong writing, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines. Fieldwork may require travel, overnight assignments, work in remote locations, and the ability to walk over uneven terrain while carrying equipment. A valid driver’s license and willingness to work safely in variable weather and field conditions are expected.
