Our client, a major player in the hydropower and energy infrastructure sector, is seeking an experienced Hydro Site Planner to support construction delivery on a large-scale hydropower project in Québec. This is a site-based role where you will play a critical part in planning, coordinating, and monitoring construction activities to ensure efficient execution and schedule performance.
This opportunity is ideal for a planning professional who thrives in complex EPC project environments and enjoys working closely with multidisciplinary site teams to drive progress, mitigate risks, and maintain schedule integrity in a bilingual working environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain detailed, resource-loaded construction schedules (Level 4-5) using Primavera P6
Coordinate daily and weekly planning with site teams to logically sequence work and optimize resource allocation
Lead short-term planning sessions, including lookahead schedules and collaborative planning meetings
Monitor physical progress, productivity, and earned value performance, updating schedules to reflect actual site conditions
Identify schedule variances and recommend mitigation or recovery strategies
Review technical drawings and documentation to identify construction interfaces, access constraints, and sequencing risks
Support preparation of schedule-related claims, including delay and time impact analysis
Produce schedule reports and performance curves for internal and client stakeholders
Maintain schedule constraints and delay registers
Provide clear communication on progress, risks, and recovery plans to project leadership
Required Experience & QualificationsDemonstrated experience in EPC construction planning and scheduling, including at least 2 years in a site-based planning role
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 for schedule and resource management
Strong understanding of planning methodologies and construction sequencing principles
Ability to interpret technical drawings and coordinate across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, piping, etc.)
Professional working proficiency in French is required to support site coordination and stakeholder communication
Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to risk identification and problem solving
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred ExperienceExperience within hydropower or heavy infrastructure projects
Familiarity with Lean Construction methodologies and collaborative planning frameworks
Knowledge of earned value management and progress measurement techniques
Professional certification in planning or project management (PMI-SP, PMP, AACE-PSP, or similar)
English language proficiency is considered an asset in a multinational project environment
Additional RequirementsLegal authorization to work in Canada
Willingness to work full-time on site in Québec
