Manager of Field Services - Site Management - Hydropower

Location: Quebec, Canada

Position Type: Full-Time

Executive Overview

On behalf of our client, a leader in renewable energy infrastructure, EWI is seeking an experienced Manager of Field Services based out of Quebec.

If you possess a track record leading large-scale field operations-specifically within Hydro Turbine and Generator projects-and excel at bridging technical execution with strategic management, this position offers a key leadership role within a dynamic engineering environment.

Core Responsibilities

Site Operations & Field Execution: Direct overall field service scopes across active sites. Establish and standardise field procedures, site layouts, infrastructure, and tool/fixture availability.

Talent Management & Workforce Planning: Recruit, assign, and direct site managers and supervisors. Provide coaching, establish qualification benchmarks, and oversee field labor timekeeping and compensation.

Safety & Quality Governance: Set and monitor site performance metrics. Enforce adherence to safety regulations, quality assurance plans, and standard work instructions while driving continuous improvement and lessons learned.

Cost & Risk Management: Monitor project site budgets, identify potential schedule or operational risks, and implement immediate corrective actions. Oversee site sourcing and procurement activities.

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with technical requirements as well as regional and legal standards across all Canadian project locations.

Candidate Profile

Background: High school diploma or GED required. Extensive proven experience in supervisory or managerial roles.

Domain Expertise: Prior hands-on experience as a Site Manager or Supervisor specifically on Hydro Turbine / Generator Projects is mandatory.

Language Requirements: Fluency in French (verbal and written) is required to effectively manage Hydro-Québec operations and regional teams.

Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated capability in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, technical specs, master schedules, and financial budgets. Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Leadership: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of managing and developing field teams.

Working Conditions: Primary office setting with frequent walking/standing (4-8 hours daily) and occasional physical movement (stooping, crouching, light lifting). Occasional travel to active field sites with high-noise and outdoor conditions is required.

EWI is supporting a major global wind energy organisation with the recruitment of Onsite Logistics Coordinators for wind construction projects across the United States and Canada.

This is a site-based position responsible for coordinating the safe and efficient movement, delivery and tracking of wind turbine components, equipment and materials. You will work closely with site construction, logistics, HSE and quality teams to ensure components arrive when required and projects remain on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate wind turbine component and material deliveries to active construction sites.
Manage and communicate delivery schedules in line with construction programmes and project priorities.
Coordinate transportation from ports, staging areas and laydown yards to project sites.
Support site access, unloading, receiving and movement of turbine components and equipment.
Track turbine components, materials and equipment across the project.
Maintain accurate inventory, delivery and transportation records.
Support the organisation and management of site laydown yards.
Coordinate with transport providers, crane teams, construction teams and site management.
Identify potential delivery delays, logistical risks and operational issues and help resolve them before they impact construction.
Ensure logistics activities comply with project HSE, quality and operational requirements.
Support day-to-day material requests, equipment movements and special deliveries.
Attend project meetings and provide logistics updates, forecasts and site-readiness information.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve logistics efficiency and project performance.
Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates with:

1+ years experience within wind construction.
1+ years experience within logistics, transportation or supply chain.
Previous experience working on active construction sites, ideally within the wind industry.
Understanding of turbine component delivery, receiving, laydown or material management.
Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple deliveries and changing site priorities.
Strong safety and quality mindset.
Experience identifying and resolving logistics or operational issues.
Ability to work with construction, HSE, quality, crane and logistics teams.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
Ability to work in outdoor construction, port and laydown-yard environments.
Willingness to travel and work extended project hours when required.
Working Pattern
Approximately 10 hours per day / 6 days per week, depending on project requirements.
Rotation may be available on certain projects, typically with a minimum 4 weeks on / 1 week off.
Candidates must be comfortable working on active wind construction sites and travelling between projects when required.

This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong SAP, logistics, inventory management and site administration experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced construction environment and travelling between renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day coordination of wind farm construction projects from site mobilisation through to commissioning and close-out.
Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
Manage site documentation including installation records, commissioning paperwork, QA/QC documentation, transport records and contractor timesheets.
Assemble and maintain project job books and ensure accurate physical and electronic document control.
Manage construction inventory, tooling and material movements, including:
Goods receiving
Inventory control
Cycle counts
Stock reconciliation
Tool tracking
Container management
Process inventory transactions and maintain accurate SAP records.
Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and associated project documentation.

Support procurement activities including purchase requests, purchase orders and vendor coordination.
Assist with project budgeting, labour tracking and cost control.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum 3 years experience supporting utility-scale wind farm construction projects.
Strong experience using SAP for inventory, logistics, purchasing or site administration.
Previous experience in one or more of the following:

Planning & Scheduling
Project Support
Excellent knowledge of inventory management and construction documentation.
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently whilst supporting multiple project stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience with Lean principles is advantageous.
Valid driving licence.
Passport preferred for international travel.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Able to travel extensively (approximately 90% travel).
