We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer (Hydro) to support the delivery of complex hydropower and water infrastructure projects from feasibility through to detailed design, construction and commissioning. This is an opportunity to join a technically focused team working on major schemes involving dams, tunnels, waterways, intake structures, powerhouses, spillways and associated civil works. You will provide senior engineering input, help shape project solutions and contribute to the safe, efficient and sustainable delivery of technically challenging assignments.
Your responsibilities will include leading and undertaking civil engineering assessments, preparing and reviewing calculations, specifications, drawings, reports and technical studies, and developing design solutions in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and specialist consultants, provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers, and support design reviews, risk assessments and constructability evaluations. The role will also involve contributing to bids and proposals, monitoring technical quality, managing agreed budgets and programmes, and providing site-based support where required, including responding to technical queries and reviewing construction progress.
Applicants should hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline and have substantial experience in the design and delivery of hydropower, dams, water resources or other major infrastructure projects. Chartered or near-chartered status with a recognised professional institution is desirable. You will have a sound understanding of geotechnical, hydraulic and structural interfaces, together with experience using relevant design and modelling software. Strong technical writing, communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. A proactive approach to health and safety, quality assurance and environmental performance is expected. Occasional travel to project and construction sites may be required.
