We are seeking an experienced Head Electrical & Mechanical Engineer – Mission Critical to lead the technical delivery of complex, highly resilient facilities. This senior role will provide strategic direction across electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines, ensuring that systems are designed, constructed, commissioned and operated to the highest standards of safety, reliability, energy efficiency and performance. You will work closely with project, operations, commercial, design and construction teams to deliver critical infrastructure with minimal risk and disruption.
Responsibilities will include developing and approving engineering strategies, design briefs, technical specifications and performance requirements; overseeing the integration of power distribution, standby generation, UPS systems, cooling, ventilation, fire protection, controls and building management systems; and reviewing designs, calculations, drawings, equipment selections and installation methodologies. You will lead technical due diligence, risk assessments, design reviews, value engineering and compliance activities, while maintaining robust engineering governance throughout the project lifecycle. The role will also involve managing consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers, supporting procurement, resolving technical issues, and providing leadership during testing, commissioning, handover and operational readiness.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, together with substantial experience delivering mission-critical environments such as data centres, healthcare facilities, semiconductor plants or other high-availability infrastructure. Professional registration or chartered status is desirable, as is a strong understanding of relevant international standards, statutory requirements, health and safety obligations and sustainable design principles. You will be a confident technical leader with proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder relationships. Strong commercial awareness, analytical ability, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The successful candidate will be comfortable making informed decisions under pressure and promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
