Role Overview
The Head of Project Engineering will spearhead the design and engineering of Solar + BESS + Diesel/Gas hybrid installations, some of which include MV/LV distribution networks. This pivotal role requires a visionary engineer who can maintain exceptional design standards while ensuring cost-efficiency and quality. You'll be at the forefront of design innovation and team leadership, guiding projects from conceptual design through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.Mentor engineers, ensuring skill enhancement in solar, storage, and hybrid systems.Oversee design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards.Design & Technical Oversight
Supervise design processes for renewable energy projects, integrating electrical, mechanical, and civil elements.Ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements.Optimize designs for performance, cost-efficiency, and ease of maintenance.Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
Develop processes to enhance design accuracy and reduce rework.Implement quality control systems to manage risks effectively.Drive continuous improvements in design methodologies.Project Lifecycle Management
Manage designs from concept to construction, aligning with project goals.Collaborate with project managers and contractors to ensure seamless execution.Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.Stakeholder Management
Work with internal teams to align designs with business and client needs.Maintain relationships with external consultants and contractors.Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in renewable energy.Champion design innovations to improve project efficiency and performance.Qualifications & Competencies
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, with a strong background in renewable energy.Experience
10+ years in renewable energy system design, including 5+ years with Solar + BESS + Diesel/Gas hybrids.Proven leadership in engineering teams and project design management.Experience in C&I and mini-grid sectors, handling projects from 500 kWp to 10 MWp.Skills
Expertise in hybrid energy system design and MV/LV distribution networks.Proficient in AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope, and other design tools.Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.Salary: 54,000 to 65,000 USD Per Annum (Gross)

Our client is providing services to carry out a major rehabilitation at one of Nigeria's most important hydropower facilities. For this project they are seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to support the refurbishment of key generating units.
Your RoleAs a vital member of the Owner's and Operator's Engineering team, your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing the refurbishment of E&M equipment, including turbines, generators, control systems, excitation, MV/LV cabling, GCB, IPB, and transformers.
Reviewing and providing technical feedback on contractor submissions such as reports, drawings, and calculations.
Supervising installation, testing, and commissioning to ensure adherence to quality and technical specifications.
Attending Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP) components.
Advising on scheduling and progress control.
Reviewing the contractor's operation and maintenance documentation.
Coordinating with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
What We're Looking ForA degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years' experience in large-scale hydropower or heavy industrial E&M refurbishment projects.
Strong understanding of EBOP systems, generator refurbishment, and commissioning.
Proven expertise in design review, site supervision, and quality assurance/control.
Availability and willingness to be based full-time on-site in Nigeria.
Salary Package Details:
