Are you a seasoned hydropower engineering professional looking for a high‑impact leadership role in one of Asia's most dynamic energy markets? We are seeking an exceptional Team Leader to support a major hydropower development programme in Nepal. This is a prestigious freelance assignment suited for experts with extensive experience in large‑scale hydropower projects (500 MW+).

About the Role

As Team Leader, you will oversee and coordinate a multidisciplinary team responsible for detailed engineering design and construction supervision. You will ensure all technical outputs meet international standards and that project activities are delivered on time and to the highest quality.

This assignment requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex, high‑value hydropower infrastructure.

Key Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:

30+ years of general experience in detailed engineering design and/or construction supervision of hydropower projects.Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's degree in Hydropower Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent discipline.Detailed engineering design experience on at least four completed/commissioned hydropower projects of 500 MW or more.Construction supervision experience on at least one completed/commissioned hydropower project of 500 MW or more.Experience delivering detailed design for at least one 500 MW+ hydropower project under international contract models such as FIDIC, World Bank SPD, or other MDB‑approved frameworks.International experience within the Asian region, specifically on hydropower projects 500 MW or above.Previous experience as a Team Leader, with a minimum of 24 months involvement in that role.Why Apply?Lead a major hydropower development project in Nepal.Work in a high‑profile, technically challenging environment.Contribute to the expansion of renewable and sustainable power infrastructure in the region.Ideal for senior experts seeking impactful, high‑level project leadership roles.

EWI is supporting an international engineering consultancy headquartered in Europe. We are currently recruiting a Chief Contracts Engineer for a major hydropower and dam project based in Nepal. This is a senior, long‑term assignment requiring extensive contracts, construction, and FIDIC experience.

Position Requirements

Education:

MSc in Civil Engineering (Mandatory)

Professional Experience:

Minimum 20 years of overall experienceMinimum 5 years of experience in hydropower projectsMinimum 5 years of experience working in AsiaStrong working knowledge of FIDIC Red Book

Contract Details:

Duration: 2‑year long‑term contractLocation: Remote project site, NepalStart Date: ASAP (subject to client approval)Key Responsibilities During Construction StageReview bidding documents prepared by the consultant from a contractual perspective.Support the end client throughout the full bid management cycle, including contract package selection and negotiation.Oversee and supervise all construction works from the contractual viewpoint.Prepare contractual reports and documentation as required by the Terms of Reference.Document events leading to delays and support contractual claims or assessments.Deliver skills‑transfer programmes for the client's personnel during construction.Maintain strong external stakeholder relations and effective internal communication.Keep detailed records of contractual decisions, progress, and changes to plans.Compensation PackageMonthly net remuneration: USD 15,000 - 19,000Three annual return flights to home countryFree accommodation and local transportation provided

Senior Contract Engineer - Dam and Hydroelectric Project (Nepal)

EWI is working with International Engineering Consultancy based in Europe. At this moment they are seeking Contracts Engineer fro Hydropower project in Nepal.

Position details below:

* Education: Civil Engineering
* General Experience:20 years
* Hydropower Experience: 10 years
* Regional Experience (South Asia): 12 years

Project Length: 21 Months

The expert is expected to take care of the following tasks during the construction stage:

* Review bidding documents from the contractual viewpoint prepared by the consultant.
* Support End Client running the entire bid management process through selection and negotiation of each contract package from the contractual viewpoint.
* Supervise all works of construction works from the contractual viewpoint.
* Prepare reports and documents specified in ToR.
* Record events leading to delay in construction activities.
* Execute skill transfer programs for Client personnel during construction stage.
* Assist in maintaining sound external relations and personnel relations.
* Maintain records documenting decisions made at meetings, progress of project implementation and changes to contract plans.

Project Location: Nepal

The package is:

* Monthly net remuneration of upto USD 15,000
* 3 flights per year to the candidate's country of residence
* Free accommodation and local transport.
