An experienced Estimator is required to support civil construction projects in Mulberry, Florida. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for a range of infrastructure, earthworks and site development activities. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that proposals are commercially sound and aligned with project requirements.
Key responsibilities Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documents to identify project requirements. Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, equipment and other project expenses. Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, clarifying inclusions, exclusions and commercial terms. Complete quantity take-offs and verify measurements using relevant estimating software and digital tools. Identify potential risks, omissions, construction challenges and opportunities for value engineering. Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to develop practical and competitive bids. Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing databases and supporting documentation. Assist with tender submissions, bid reviews, handover meetings and post-tender analysis. About youYou will have proven estimating experience within civil construction, heavy earthworks, utilities, roads, drainage or a related field. A strong understanding of construction methods, production rates, materials, subcontractor pricing and project costs is essential. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, carrying out detailed calculations and presenting commercial information clearly.
The role requires excellent attention to detail, sound numerical ability and strong organisational skills. You will be comfortable working to deadlines, managing multiple tenders and communicating effectively with colleagues, clients and external suppliers. Experience with estimating software, spreadsheets and digital quantity-take-off tools will be highly valued.
