Senior Project Manager/Practice Builder – Environmental Planning
We are seeking an experienced environmental planning professional to lead complex projects, strengthen client relationships and support the continued growth of an environmental planning practice. This is a senior-level opportunity for someone who combines strong technical capability with commercial awareness, confident leadership and a genuine interest in developing people and services. You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, advising clients and project teams on environmental planning requirements from early feasibility through to approvals, delivery and post-consent obligations.
Responsibilities will include managing multidisciplinary environmental assessments and planning projects; preparing, reviewing and coordinating technical reports, planning documentation and approval submissions; interpreting relevant environmental legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks; and engaging with clients, government agencies, communities, Traditional Owners and other stakeholders. You will provide high-quality strategic advice, manage budgets, programmes, risks and resources, and ensure that project outcomes meet quality, regulatory and commercial expectations. As a practice builder, you will contribute to business planning, identify and pursue new opportunities, prepare proposals and fee estimates, and help expand relationships across public and private sector markets. You will also mentor and support consultants, contribute to knowledge sharing and help shape efficient systems, services and delivery standards.
Applicants should have substantial experience in environmental planning, impact assessment, approvals or a closely related discipline, together with a relevant tertiary qualification. Strong knowledge of applicable planning and environmental legislation, assessment processes and approval pathways is essential. You will bring a proven record of successfully delivering complex projects, managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with technical specialists and senior stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and client management skills are required, along with commercial judgement and the confidence to contribute to business development. Experience leading teams, building a service offering or growing a professional practice will be highly regarded. The role offers the opportunity to influence meaningful projects, develop a strong market presence and make a lasting contribution to a growing environmental planning capability.
