We are seeking a Civil Engineer I – Water Resources to support the planning, design, and delivery of water-related infrastructure and environmental engineering projects. This entry-level position is suited to a motivated engineer who is interested in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, flood risk assessment, drainage systems, water supply, and related civil engineering services. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced professionals while developing practical skills across project planning, technical analysis, design, and construction support.
Key responsibilities will include assisting with hydrologic and hydraulic studies; preparing calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates; supporting the design of stormwater conveyance systems, detention facilities, culverts, channels, and drainage improvements; reviewing survey information and engineering data; and contributing to field investigations, site inspections, and construction administration activities. You may also help prepare permit applications, respond to technical questions, coordinate with project teams and external stakeholders, and ensure that deliverables meet applicable standards, regulations, and quality requirements. The role may involve using engineering software, spreadsheets, mapping tools, and computer-aided design applications to evaluate alternatives and develop practical solutions.
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline, with coursework or project experience in water resources preferred. Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, AutoCAD or similar design software, GIS, and relevant industry standards is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate sound judgement, attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Eligibility for professional engineering registration, or progress toward it, will be viewed favourably. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
