We are seeking a Solar & BESS Technician I to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage facility. This entry-level role is suited to a practical, safety-focused individual who is interested in renewable energy, electrical systems, and industrial maintenance. Working under the direction of experienced technicians and site leadership, you will help maintain equipment performance and support daily plant operations.
Key responsibilities include conducting routine inspections and readings; identifying abnormal operating conditions; assisting with preventive and corrective maintenance; and supporting troubleshooting of solar arrays, inverters, battery systems, transformers, switchgear, monitoring equipment, and related balance-of-plant systems. You will use computerized maintenance and monitoring systems to record work activities, equipment conditions, and completed tasks. The role also involves maintaining tools, parts, work areas, and site access routes; following lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures; participating in emergency response activities; and supporting contractors or specialist technicians when required. All work must be completed in accordance with site procedures, environmental requirements, and applicable health and safety standards.
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a willingness to learn electrical and mechanical maintenance, and the ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions. Experience with solar, battery storage, industrial equipment, electrical systems, or a related technical trade is advantageous but not essential. You should be comfortable using hand tools, reading basic technical documentation, working at heights where required, and performing physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, and climbing. Strong communication, attention to detail, reliable attendance, and a commitment to safe working practices are essential. The position may require rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call coverage, and successful completion of background, medical, and site-access requirements.
