We are seeking a Project Engineer (Water) to support the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initial planning and design through to construction, commissioning and handover. The role will involve working closely with project managers, designers, contractors, suppliers, regulators and client representatives to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and in accordance with technical, environmental and quality requirements.
Key responsibilities will include developing and reviewing engineering designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and technical reports; coordinating design activities and resolving technical issues; preparing scopes of work, cost estimates, programmes and procurement documentation; and supporting the assessment and management of project risks, changes and contractual matters. You will monitor construction progress, attend site meetings and inspections, review contractor submissions, and ensure that work complies with approved designs, relevant legislation, industry standards and health and safety requirements. The role will also involve contributing to project reporting, stakeholder communication, commissioning activities, asset handover and the capture of lessons learned.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, water, environmental or a related engineering discipline, together with relevant experience delivering water, wastewater, treatment, pipeline, pumping or associated infrastructure projects. Experience of working across the project lifecycle, including design, construction and commissioning, is highly desirable. You will need strong technical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with engineering standards, health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, contract administration and common design or project management software would be advantageous. A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions are essential.
